Swedbank becomes the main sponsor of the Tallinn Marathon
Swedbank is as of today the main sponsor of the Tallinn Marathon. The largest sports event in Estonia, held in Tallinn every autumn and an international marathon, will now be called the Swedbank Tallinn Marathon.
As the largest bank in Estonia, Swedbank considers promoting healthy lifestyles and expanding opportunities important. "Just as Swedbank has long been committed to making quality financial education accessible through the Money Matters Information Center to improve the financial well-being of our people, we consider it equally important to support the physical and mental health of people. The Tallinn Marathon, which brings together tens of thousands of cheerful running enthusiasts from Estonia and around the world, is a true example of the success of promoting healthy lifestyles," explained Swedbank's CEO Olavi Lepp.
In addition, Swedbank has been supporting the establishment and development of Health Tracks in Estonia since 2005 and youth movement and sports projects since 2016. "Health is our most precious asset, which must be invested in continuously. Therefore, we have taken it to heart to promote opportunities for movement for both young people and adults, amateurs and athletes alike. The Tallinn Marathon also combines the joy of fitness and the beauty of competitive sports," added Lepp.
In 2024, Estonia's most popular sports event celebrates two anniversaries - 35 years since the first Tallinn Marathon, which includes the classic marathon (42.195 km) and half marathon (21.1 km), and the 25th edition of the Tallinn Autumn Run with a 10-kilometer running and walking track. "Anniversaries give reason to strive. Our common goal is to break the previous participation record and organize the largest sports event in Estonian history. We are grateful that Swedbank has decided to support the Tallinn Marathon, giving us confidence that we can host thousands of participants from top runners to fitness enthusiasts from all over Estonia in a memorable and safe manner," said Mati Lilliallik, head of the Tallinn Marathon organizing team.
The participation record for the largest international sports event in Estonia was set in the centenary year of the Republic of Estonia in 2018, when almost 24,000 fitness enthusiasts participated in various distances. The record for foreign participants was set last year, with participants from 78 countries.
This year, the Swedbank Tallinn Marathon and the 25th Tallinn Autumn Run will take place on September 6-8th.
