Regulations

1. GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1. The relay marathon is part of Swedbank Tallinn Marathon covering 42.2 km and takes place on September 14, 2025.
1.2. The relay marathon consists of 5 relay legs.
1.3 The runner of the first leg may complete the whole marathon distance. However the organizers must be notified beforehand.

2. PARTICIPANTS
2.1. A team consists of 5 members.
2.2. Up to 300 teams are allowed to start.
2.3. Participation in the relay marathon is at one’s own risk (for underage participants, the risk of their parents).
2.4. Participants at the relay marathon must be at least 13 years old. Participants must have sufficient training for the given distance.
2.5. Organisers recommend passing a health examination before participation.
2.6. Participating in any Swedbank Tallinn Marathon distance with baby strollers or pets is not permitted.

3. COMPETITION CENTRE
3.1. The competition centre has:
3.1.1 Race office (BIBs, on-the-spot registration)
3.1.2 Dressing facilities and gear check
3.1.3 Toilets
3.1.4 Bicycle Park
3.1.5 Awarding area (stage)
3.1.6 Expo
3.1.7 Medical aid. -
4. START
4.1. Start corridor opens 30 minutes before the start.
4.2. Participants from the first leg start from a separately marked starting group.
4.3. Only participants with the I leg BIB numbers are allowed to start.
4.4. Only the participant who has registered for the race can race with their BIB.
4.5. It is obligatory to start in your group, those starting in the wrong group will be disqualified.

5. RELAY EXCHANGE AREA
NB! The lengths of the relay's legs are being specified! Distances will be between 6-10 km.
5.1. The relay exchange area is organized according to bib numbers.
5.2. Relay exchange takes place only in designated exchange areas according to the team's bib number.
5.3. The relay baton must be handed over to the next team member for the upcoming leg.
5.4. A specific leg can only be completed by the participant registered for that leg.
5.5. All team members must independently reach their designated exchange area.
5.6. At the exchange area, finishers will receive a medal and beverage.

6. COURSE
6.1. The relay marathon takes place are held on the streets and light traffic roads of Tallinn.
6.2. The relay marathon course is open for 6 hours. Split times are recorded on 5., 10., 15., 20., 25., 30., 35. and on 21,1 km mark. Time limits: 21,1 km 3:15, 30 km 5:15. Participants exceeding the time limit will be disqualified.
6.4. Refreshment stations are after every 3-5K. Water and sports drinks are provided at the refreshment stations from reusable cups, which must be placed in yellow collection boxes after use.
6.5. For safety, the participants are obligated to follow the orders of the course adjudicators.

7. FINISH
7.1. After finishing, move along the finish corridor to the service area, where the participants will receive the beverage.

8. REGISTRATION
8.1. Online registration is open in Customer Portal at www.jooks.ee until the allowed number of teams has been reached or until September 7, 2025
8.2. To register, the team representative must fill out the registration form with all team members' details.

9. RE-REGISTRATION
9.1. Re-registration (i.e., participant name change) is only possible via email jooks@jooks.ee until September 7, 2025.
9.2. Re-registration can be done for an additional fee 10 €.
9.3. Registration transfers to other distances are not permitted.

10. PARTICIPATION FEES

10.1. In case of cancellation of the Swedbank Tallinn Marathon for reasons beyond the control of the organisers (force majeure) and in case of withdrawal of the competitor, the entry fee will not be refunded.

12. TIMING
12.1. Timing is measured electronically.
12.2. The chip is attached to the relay baton.
12.3. The total time taken by the team to complete the marathon distance is recorded.
12.4. Do not remove the chip from the baton.
12.5. The BIB must be placed on the chest and must be visible throughout the course, from start until crossing the finish line.

13. START MATERIALS AND RELAY BATON
13.1 The start numbers of all team members together with the baton will be handed out at the competition centre at the same time.

14. RESULTS
14.1. Results are published at www.jooks.ee.

15. MEDICAL AID
15.1. Medical aid is available along the course, if needed.
15.2. If you see someone at the course who needs help, please inform the medical staff or organising personnel on the course or by calling 112.
15.3. Event participants will respect clean and fair sport. IAAF’s anti-doping rules apply at the event and the Estonian Anti-Doping Agency has the right to test all participants for doping. More information for the participants is available at www.antidoping.ee. -
16. CANCELLING
16.1. In case of obvious medical problems, the organisers have the right to call a participant off the course.
16.2. If someone cancelling the race needs transport, they need to move to the nearest refreshment station and inform the organisers. -
17. APPEALS
17.1. All appeals concerning the event results, breach of rules, etc. must be made:
- for the first 50 finishers, within 1h after the 50th runner has finished,
- for the other finishers within 30 minutes after the finish is closed.
- Appellation fee is 20 €, which will be refunded only if the protest is upheld.
- All appeals concerning the competition are solved by the competition organiser.
17.2. Cases not covered by the rules will be settled by the organiser on a rolling basis.

18. RIGHTS OF THE ORGANISER
18.1. The organiser has the right to disqualify the participant if they do not follow Swedbank Tallinn Marathon, World Athletics (WA) nor the Estonian Athletic Association (EKJL) competition rules.
18.2. The organisers have the right to use photos and videos taken at the event.18.3. By registering and paying the starting fee, the participant:
18.3.1 agrees with these rules and regulations, and the conditions provided by the organiser;
18.3.2 agrees that their personal data is used according to the laws and regulations;
18.3.3 agrees that an e-mail with relevant information for the participant (the participant’s manual) is sent to them before the event;
18.3.4 confirms that they have had sufficient training and they are healthy enough to take part in the sports event. -
