Maijooks gets thousands of active women moving!
Maijooks (May Run) is the biggest sports event for women in Estonia. The first Maijooks took place in 1988 on the initiative of the Maiklubi club, having lured a couple hundred women into taking part in the run. Since 2009 Maijooks has been organised by Sport Event Team (Spordiürituste Korraldamise Klubi), and the present participation record is 16 000 sports enthusiasts. For a small country like Estonia this is a phenomenal number. At times women manage to demonstrate even better results than men.
Maijooks has played a very important role in making active lifestyle a trend among women. Maijooks is the biggest health and movement event for women in Estonia’s history. Over the thirty-two years it has helped more than a quarter million women get involved in sports activities. The 7 km track can be passed as by running, so by walking, and every participant can choose a suitable pace.
Maijooks welcomes the entire family, as there is plenty to do for children and men as well! The event will include a sports market and a unique Day Care for Men, as well as children’s runs and a traditional spring concert.
